Ron McDermott 1962 Impala Convertible.
59 years ago, I tried to buy a 62 Impala convertible. It was white with red interior 283 power glide with a white top. A friend of mine had a 62 Impala convertible with blue interior,327 four speed SS with a black top and Chrome Crager wheels. I needed a cosigner and never got the car.
At this year’s picnic John Lucas reminded us that a friend of his was selling a 62 white SS impala convertible that he had owned for 41 years. I asked him if it was still available and it was. John made arrangements for me to see the car. The owner and I made a deal and on 6-3-25 I finally owned my 62 Impala convertible.
Since then, I have been busy bringing it back to its pristine condition. I replaced the complete front and rear suspension. Replaced the interior rear-view mirror and added a side view mirror to the passenger side. Also, I repaired a leaking sending unit on the gas tank. Next, I will be installing a completely new exhaust system. For now, that’s my progress. I will keep you informed.
